Friday 5 – Open Networks

These are the five most interesting learning networks which I have encountered. Unfortunately, most of the open networks are commercial enterprises. As my online teaching avocation is quite an insular endeavor, the possibilities for networking are limited. Most of the following resources take this into account, but are suitable for private instruction within the scope of my lesson dynamics.

1)

https://blog.babbel.com/  This is a relatively good  resource for those that wish to learn a new language. I do not utilize this resource for any specific language learning, however I do enjoy reading their news site which gives an interesting insight into language teaching news from around the world.

2)

For my personal studies, I am currently quite involved with this resource which is a teaching tool for me to learn the Russian language. The exercises become increasingly difficult, and the overall lesson plans are comprehensive and can be exhaustive. https://pushkininstitute.ru/?locale=en

I love audio books, especially on long trips by car or plane. I have listened to several books on this site: https://librivox.org/pages/about-librivox/  . The fascination of this resource is that it is entirely com

erical free and all of the books are in the public domain. They are constantly looking for readers to record books – I have intentions to volunteer my services in the very near future.

4)

https://www.englishclub.com/  This is a great site for those that are learning or teaching English.I have quite often referred to the website when I have difficulty with an issue, and I have often referred my students to this site for additional study. They do have a blog, however most of the posts are dated and the posting are few and far between.

5)
News In Levels   A few of my online students really love to read about the current news as they sometimes do not have the time during their busy weeks to investigate it on their own. With this particular resource, they can read a news/entertainment/interest article in three different levels, and there is usually a video and audio presentation available for them to practice their pronunciation. https://www.newsinlevels.com/#
